Our Historic Buildings
Welcome to the home of Garstang Town Trust, we are a Registered Charity, established to protect the historic buildings, artifacts and markets within our care. We do this whilst also seeking to enrich the economic and cultural life of the Town.
We are custodians of:
- Town Hall
- Market House
- Old Grammar School (Arts Centre)
- Market Cross
- Butchers Court
Over the years the trust has supported Garstang's Christmas lights, children's festival, the acquisition of land for sport and leisure facilities, Garstang in Bloom, art and cultural events along with other activities that bring people together and promote pride in our town.
Our Markets
We run a Thursday street market and covered indoor market, a right bestowed to the trust by Royal Charter of 1680. Our markets attract visitors from across the area and beyond. Market holders sell goods and services ranging from fresh produce, clothes, plants, books and cards along with bedding, key cutting, confectionary and much more.
Garstang's market has existed for over 300 years and has become part of Garstang's rich history, contributing greatly to the town's special character, it is an essential and irreplaceable part of Garstang's social and economic life.
The aim of the trust is to manage and regulate our markets in a responsible way, which seeks to keep in balance the various interests involved.
Whether it be our indoor market or Thursday street market, stall holders offer something for everyone with a good quality offering and a friendly smile, why not pay us a visit?
